Spokane Woman Who Summited Everest To Speak At
REI Kennewick

On Wednesday, August 25th @ 7:00 pm, Kay LeClaire inspirational speaker and mountain climber will be giving a presentation on “Everest, A Journey of Commitment”. In 2009, she was declared the first woman climber over 60 to summit all 7 summits (the highest point on each continent). She will be giving an inspirational presentation on how summiting Everest at 60 was life changing. For more information you can download the flyer for the presentation.

BIKE AND BOAT CROATIA
FFOFC travel committee has finalized plans for a bike and boat trip to the Istria Peninsula in Croatia beginning Oct. 3, 2010. The bike trip is for 8 days, 7 nights, includes lodging aboard ship with private cabin, shower and toilet, 3 meals per day (with some lunches being on the road during the tour). English speaking tour guide, maps, etc. Bike rentals are 70 euros. The price is approximately $1,400 pp though we may secure a lower price if the entire boat is chartered. And, of course, the airfare is additional. This trip promises to be a wonderful outing along the Adriatic coast, into small villages, Roman ruins, a national park and the farm lands, giving you a fascinating view of this Dalmatian area. We have secured an early booking package from the tour company, with the entire ship (11 double berths) being held for FFOFC through December 28th, 2009. Booking deposit of $200 (basically a down payment on the tour cost) plus booking fee secures your place on the boat. Please contact Eva or Clarence, for additional information, if you can and are willing to make your booking. Although the December 28th date may be extended, it is likely that booking may be opened up after that date, and berths filled by others.

Camping for 2010. . .

CHARBONNEAU PARK/RV CAMPING --Monday August 16th- Thursday August 19th
Trip Camping on the Snake River--Hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing plus an easy drive from Tri Cities so you might wish to bring your grandkids along. We plan to stay 3 nights. We have reserved site 34 and there are currently several sites available. If you have a Golden Age Pass you get 50% off your reservation. The cost is $22 per night for a total cost of $66 for 3 nights but with the Golden Age is comes to only $33 for the 3 nights. This way other club members can come join us with canoes, kayaks, or just to hike if they so choose. Hope some of the rest of you can make this trip. Perhaps bring some grandchildren.
