CAR POOLING POLICY -- Many of our events use carpools for transportation. The Board has increased the recommended average carpool cost to .07/mile/person, however it is the responsibility of the driver or the trip leader, when a van is used, to set the final cost. There are numerous things that should be considered in setting the cost: shuttle vehicle costs, number of passengers per vehicle and extra cost incurred by towing the gear trailer. It is suggested that the trip leader or driver consider all relevant factors when arriving at a fair cost, which covers the true cost of transportation without profiting from the event. Drivers are cautioned to drive safely and stay within posted speed limits.
Preparation for Hikes -- Bring a lunch, water, snacks, personal gear (eg. hiking poles, camera, binoculars) and dress for the occasion. Wearing of high top hiking boots with non slip soles is suggested. It is also recommended that you be in reasonably good physical condition. The hikes vary from 5-15 miles over a variety of terrain and altitude. The Event Leader will be required to carry some basic first aid and emergency supplies however it is suggested that you bring any gear which you think is necessary for your personal safety or comfort.
Impromptu or Added Events -- Below are the many events we have chosen for the Club for this coming three months. There may be others which one or more of the Club members would like to add. We welcome your suggestions and involvement as an event leader. Just come to a Board Meeting or contact the appropriate committee chair to present your suggestion. 95% of our members are on the Internet so contacting everyone for additions is easy. Also impromptu events or carpools may be supported through our communication systems. Just click on the E-Mail button and let us know if you need help.
