“Well, the weather couldn’t have been better as Don and Ilene Hogaboom, Dennis Trimble, and Becky and Dave Bechtold set off on their ride to geocaches along the bike paths. This was everyone’s virgin experience at geocaching, but we did a respectable 12 for 17 (two we stopped at don’t count) for the day. We tried to follow geocaching etiquette by avoiding the attention of passersby in order to protect the cache identities, but it was hard in some places. We took a lunch break at Andy’s restaurant to discuss how well we were getting into the heads of the cache placers, because we found the GPS units can only get us within about 10 feet at best. The ride took us across the 182 bridge, down to and across the blue bridge and back through Columbia Park and the causeway. At one point, Becky saw a “sleeping” squirrel in a tree fork. Dennis noted he was hosting a lot of flies. Now, when we see people acting suspiciously in out-of –the –way places, we’ll know they are just engaging in some wholesome activity.” – Dave Bechtold
