Dan Myers led this trip on a sunny, chilly, and breezy Thursday. We met at the REI parking lot. Barbara Brown showed up but said it looked too windy for her... as it had been for the kayaking on Wednesday. So besides Dan, we had Dennis Trimble and Rudy Allemann. We drove to the Ayers Road starting point via the new highway south of the windmill ridge. Unfortunately, there was a slow traffic tieup on US 395 which used up 45 minutes to get through! C 'est la vie. At Ayers road we unloaded and watched a golden eagle and two large hawks fighting the wind as they soared away on the breeze. Then we started across the smooth surface on a narrow single track trail that was hard to stay in as we pedaled up hill. Dan then turned us downwards and we sped down the fields and into rocky gullies until we eventually reached the Lake Wallula level near the railroad track. We turned back from there, taking Ayers road back up to the starting point. We had pedaled only 5.7 miles but we had a good work out. The fields were green with grass and wild flowers, and the sky was sunny and blue. It was a worthwhile effort. You should come along. – Rudy
